Salud en el Barrio

Community health workshops rooted in the Bronx and Yonkers • Con amor y sofrito

¡Bienvenidos, vecinos!

I'm Candela Moreno, organizing bilingual health clinics and potlucks where we talk diabetes prevention over mofongo and salsa. My focus stays here on Earth, on families who need fresh produce, mental health resources, and connection.

Upcoming Workshops

Julio 28 • Manejo del Estrés con Ritmo
Learn breathing exercises paired with bomba drumming at the Bronx River Art Center. Bring your family for free arroz con gandules.

Agosto 5 • Cultivando Hierbas en el Balcón
Even if I struggle with my own parsley, we'll share tips for urban gardens that feed our community clinics.

Receta comunitaria: Sofrito para el alma

2 red peppers • 1 onion • 4 garlic cloves • cilantro bunch • olive oil
Sauté slow, 12 minutes, low heat. The rhythm of sofrito is like our workshops: patient, layered, nourishing.

This base fuels our health talks and food drives. Connects us to Puerto Rico while we build wellness here.

Why local first

Multi-planet dreams belong to engineers. My work is ensuring every abuela in Mott Haven has a ride to the clinic and a neighbor who checks in after the workshop. That's the real infrastructure.
